Sci- fi armour

This was a dye and breakdown focused project, creating a gory science fiction outfit inspired by the album "High Noon over Camelot" by the Mechanisms.

 

Perseus Armour 

 

Leather armour based of the Perseus series, by artist Burne-Jones. This project included use of latex to from the chest and back plate and Teflon washers to form the chainmail, this was inorder to create a light-weight armour.  

Jack of plates 

 

The Jack of plates is a type of cheap infantry armour from the late fourteenth century. It is constructed from 25 layers of calico, one layer of wool and 50 metal plates laced into the front panels in a lattice pattern. 

Every thing in this project has been naturally dyed, the Jack with oak tannins, the stockings with madder root and the Pourpoint with camomile.  

16th Century fencing Jacket

 

This Leather Fencing Jacket was one of my second year makes at BOVTS, it is inspired by the Commedia dell'arte character Il Capitano Spavento.

The Christmas Carol make 

November 2025 (BOVTS)

For The Christmas Carol, I made a tailored black frock coat for Mr Grimes that was then worn with the broken down cloak, made for The Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come. Other specialised skills involved in this project include mould making to create the skeleton hand epaulettes. 

A Midsummer Night's Dream 

January- February 2025 (BOVTS)

For A Midsummer Night's Dream i made a stetch , medieval-inspired grown for Titania with wings. Alongside this I also dyed both the colourful outer fabric and the base fabric to match the actors skin tone.

The Welkin

October- November 2024 (BOVTS)

For The Welkin i made a cotton Kimono, dyed in in a gradient from brown to blue.

Other Specialist Skills

 

Other smaller projects include a chest binder in the style of a corset, straw hat and a wool tricorn hat.
